Professor Kerem Alkin was born on 28th of June 1965 in Istanbul. After completing his undergraduate education at Istanbul University’s Faculty of Business Administration, he continued his graduate education with a master’s degree at Istanbul University’s (IU) Faculty of Social Sciences’ Economics Department. Alkin, who completed his doctorate degree in 1993 at Istanbul University’s Faculty of Social Sciences’ Economics Department, started his academic career in Istanbul University’s Ecomomics Department as a research assistant in 1987.

Alkin, who was the Chair of the Money & Banking Department of IU’s Social Sciences Institute from 1999 to 2001, was appointed as Full Professor in 2004 at the Economics Department of Istanbul Trade University’s Faculty of Trade Sciences.

Kerem Alkin, while he was a full-time professor at Istanbul Trade University from 2001 to 2013, he also held the roles of Head of Social Sciences Faculty, Head of Vocational School, Head of International Trade and Banking & Finance Departments. He was also the President of Mobile Service Provider Businessmen Association (MOBİLSİAD) until 15th of March 2021 since its foundation in August 2009.

Professor Kerem Alkin was the Editor-In-Chief for Bloomberg HT channel from 2010 to 2013 and went back to being a full time professor in 2013 by assuming the role of Head of Economics Department at Istanbul Trade University on 16th of April 2013.

Alkin, who was the President of Nişantaşı University from 11th of March 2014 to 23rd of March 2015, has been faculty at Istanbul Medipol University’s Management and Administration Sciences Faculty since 26th of March 2015. From the end of 2018 to the first quarter of 2020, he was the General Secretary of the Turkey Exporters Assembly and then went back to his role of professorship at Istanbul Medipol University. He still continues to serve as the President of Renewable Energy Research Association (YENADER) and the General Secretary of the International Competition Research Association. Ambassador Kerem Alkin took over the post as the Turkish Permanent Representative to the OECD as of 15 March 2021.

Professor Kerem Alkin, who knows French and English, is married and has a daughter.
